304L Stainless Steel 3D Elbow

304L Stainless Steel 3D Elbow

The 304L Stainless Steel 3D Elbow is a butt-weld fitting used to change the direction of stainless steel piping through a long-radius bend. The 3D configuration provides a centerline radius based on three times the nominal outside diameter of the connected pipe. 304L stainless steel is identified as UNS S30403 and EN 1.4307. Its controlled carbon content makes it suitable for welded piping systems where 304L is specified. Common configurations include 45° and 90° elbows for process, utility and industrial piping.

Product Introduction

The 304L Stainless Steel 3D Elbow is a butt-weld fitting used to change the direction of stainless steel piping through a long-radius bend. The 3D configuration provides a centerline radius based on three times the nominal outside diameter of the connected pipe.

304L stainless steel is identified as UNS S30403 and EN 1.4307. Its controlled carbon content makes it suitable for welded piping systems where 304L is specified. Common configurations include 45° and 90° elbows for process, utility and industrial piping.

Product Features

3D Radius
The longer bend geometry provides a gradual change in piping direction. The radius and center-to-end dimensions are selected according to the required nominal pipe size and fitting standard.

304L Grade
304L is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel grade used for fabricated and welded piping components where the specified service conditions are compatible with the material.

Butt-Weld Connection
The fitting uses prepared weld ends for direct connection to matching pipe. End dimensions and bevel geometry are controlled according to the applicable specification.

Dimensional Consistency
Key inspection points include outside diameter, wall thickness, bend angle, center-to-end dimension and weld-end geometry.

Size & Configuration

Nominal Pipe Size
The fitting is selected by NPS together with the required outside diameter and wall thickness. Standard dimensional tables cover sizes from 3/4 in through 24 in, with larger sizes addressed according to the applicable specification.

Center-to-End
For a 90° elbow, the center-to-end dimension is identified as dimension A. For a 45° elbow, dimension B defines the corresponding center-to-end length.

Wall Thickness
Schedule or specified wall thickness must match the connected pipe and engineering requirements. The fitting schedule should be confirmed separately from nominal pipe size.

Material & Manufacturing

Material Identification
Incoming material is checked against the specified 304L grade and applicable material requirements. Heat or batch information can be retained for order traceability.

Forming
The material is formed into the required 3D elbow geometry. Forming, sizing and dimensional correction are controlled according to the production specification.

End Preparation
Weld ends are prepared for pipe fit-up. Bevel geometry, end diameter and wall condition are checked after forming and finishing.

Surface Processing
The fitting can be supplied with a pickled or polished surface when specified. Surface requirements should be stated with the purchase specification.

Quality Control

Material Check
Material identification is verified against the specified 304L grade and required documentation.

Dimensional Check
Inspection covers outside diameter, wall thickness, angle, center-to-end dimensions and weld-end geometry. Measurements are compared with the applicable dimensional requirements.

Surface Check
Finished surfaces are visually inspected after forming and surface processing. The specified finish is confirmed before packing.

Production Control
Manufacturing is supported by an ISO 9001 quality management system. Production resources include more than 60 sets of equipment, with annual production capacity exceeding 5,000 tons and inventory exceeding 800 tons.

Application Areas

Process Piping
Used for directional changes in stainless steel process lines carrying compatible liquids or gases.

Water Systems
Suitable for stainless steel utility and water piping where 304L is included in the material specification.

Food Processing
Used in selected processing lines where the required material grade, fabrication method and surface condition are specified.

Chemical Processing
Applicable to process piping services where the operating medium, temperature and corrosion conditions are compatible with 304L stainless steel.

Industrial Utility Lines
Used in supporting piping systems for industrial plants, equipment connections and fluid distribution.

FAQ

Q: What is a 3D stainless steel elbow?

A: A 3D elbow uses a centerline bend radius based on three times the nominal outside diameter of the connected pipe. It provides a longer-radius directional change than tighter elbow configurations.

Q: What material is used for this elbow?

A: The fitting is specified in 304L stainless steel, commonly identified as UNS S30403 and EN 1.4307.

Q: What angles are available?

A: 45° and 90° are standard configurations for common piping layouts. Other angles can be specified against a drawing or project requirement.

Q: Which standard defines the dimensional requirements?

A: ASME B16.9 provides dimensional requirements for factory-made wrought butt-welding fittings, including 3D radius elbow dimensions.

Q: What information is needed for quotation?

A: Provide material grade, NPS, wall thickness or Schedule, elbow angle, required standard, surface finish, quantity and documentation requirements.
